Yitpi Yartapuultiku, meaning ‘The Soul of Port Adelaide’, a cultural centre in Port Adelaide dedicated to developing an appreciation and respect for country, offers visitors the opportunity to engage with Kaurna culture and the local environment.

Exhibition Studios undertook the design of the wayfinding and interpretive signage for Yitpi Yartapuultiku, with a focus on subtle direction, a sense of discovery and natural elements which complement the surrounding environment. It is inspired and informed by Kaurna symbolism, language, iconography, connection to country and natural elements to embed seamlessly into the site and cultural mapping.

ES worked closely with City of Port Adelaide Enfield, WAX Design, Ashley Halliday Architects, Kaurna custodians, the Yitpi Yartapuultiku Aboriginal Working Group and First Nations artists to bring this wayfinding and interpretive signage to life.
